Question

Assalam alaikum I am a new convert to Islam of one month. I am preparing to marry a Muslim man. We are making our contract. I am wanting to know if it is permissable for him to teach Islam to Non- Marham women via the internet chat rooms or women he has meet on messenger. He assures me he is only teaching and uses no cam or voices. I am asking in contract that he doesn't do this as i understand it is against Islam to have contact to non-mahram women. I have serched the fatwa bank before troubling you, but could not find any answer that helps me know. I need this infomation so i don't ask him to not do something that is permissable. Allah Bless you Allah hafiz

Answer

AAWW,

Chatting with non-Mahram women is a potential temptation, and people should pay close attention to its consequences. It opens the floor widely for further discussion between men and women that might invade people’s privacy and disclose their confidential information.

That being said, when there is a legitimate reason for such an online conversation, like a scholar with students that need his knowledge, or the like, it could be tolerated. But otherwise, it is highly recommended to avoid it, providing that information about Islam could be collected in a safer way.
