What is the ruling on putting on a little make-up when I am a woman who wears hijab? Also, what is the ruling on letting the feet show?
In the Name of Allah, all praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessing be upon the Messenger of Allah. To proceed:
It is not permissible for a Muslim woman, when she is going out to display her adornment. Allah (Glorious & Sublime) has mentioned that in respect to elderly woman who have no desire for marriage, so how about young women? She must not let her feet show according to the soundest opinion of the people of knowledge, due to the hadith from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). She asked the Messenger (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), "Can a woman pray in a dira` (dress) and a khimar (long head covering) without an izar (lower garment) [under the dress]?" He replied, "If the dira`(dress) is sabigh (long and loose-fitting), covering the tops of her feet."
