As-salam`alaikum,

I had a conventional home mortgage, and meant to switch to Islamic financing. I couldn't go with Devon Bank because it is not yet available where I live, yet I also didn't want to go with Guidance because only half of the panel endorsed Guidance as Sharia-compliant. As of 12/06, there was still no 100% endorsement. I decided to switch to Guidance because the Guidance agent told me that AMJA finally endorsed them. Now, I am searching in the AMJA fatwa bank, and I cannot find any update on Guidance that states the entire Sharia panel now endorses them. Did the agent lie to me? Can you please let me know if there has been any update on 100% endorsement of Guidance as completely Sharia-compliant and not just endorsed by two members of the panel?

There is nothing new so far, and I do not think that there will be anything new in this regard.
 
As I have said before, it is not AMJA policy to take a stand on any specific company, whether for or against them. Whatever is posted on our website is the personal opinion of the fatwa committee member, not the stand of AMJA as an organization.
