All praise be to Allah, and may his peace and blessings be on the last and best prophet and messenger, Muhammad.

Smoking (tobacco) is forbidden because of the undoubted harms of this habit to people`s health and wealth. The prophet (May Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "Forbidden to you is harm and the reciprocation of harm".

The principal in sales is that any item that is forbidden to use or consume is forbidden to sell or buy. The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "When Allah forbids something, He makes its sale forbidden"

Based on the aforementioned facts, the sale of cigarettes and cigars is forbidden.
