Question
Asalamualkum, jazakum Allah khairn for guiding the Ummah. I have heard and read ruling about giving zakat to the masjid in USA,I need your advice on two matters. firstly, we are trying to start a masjid/community center in our area, but to even start we need seed money, money which will be used to start the project, hire Immam or down payment for Halal loan. can the seed money be taken from individual zakat? secondly if yes and we end up not using the money in the next one year or the project does not come through can we give it to another charity or keep the money as funds if the project may develop in the future. please clarify these two points. may Allah bless you and all the ummah shehla
Answer
AA
According to some contemporary scholars,Zakat can be paid for Masajid in the west.
If your project did not go through, withdrow your money and pay it to the needy muslims in your area.
Allah knows best.
