Question

Does a Muslim prisoner have to pay Zakah (poor-due) upon money?

Answer

If the prisoner has owned the nisaab (minimum amount upon which zakah is due) on which one year has passed, he/she has to pay Zakah the same as other people have to. Zakah is the right of money, and is not linked with being a prisoner or free.
