Question
Assalaam alaykum, Sheikhs,
My ex-wife has fully encouraged our son to call her husband, "Dad." Is this permissible? She is also poisoning my son's mind with bad things about me. He is only eight years of age.

Answer
Calling a step-father, "Dad," is fine, as long as the son is fully aware that this person is not his biological father, and that he cannot attribute himself to him or bear his name in the future.
