Question
Assalamu alaikum,
I have an acre with two mobile homes. Is Zakat due on:
i) the rental income, as well as
ii) the market value of the real estate that houses the two mobile homes?
Jazakum Allah khair.
Answer
If the mobile homes are used for commercial purposes as exploited assets, then the Zakah must be paid on the revenue from this business. The market value of the houses is not liable to Zakah.
