As-salamu alaikum,

My question is about `aqiqah (the sacrifice offered upon the birth of a child). Some say that, since we live in the USA, we have to celebrate it here, but others say that we must send some money back home so that the poor can get it. What is the strong dalil (evidence) from the Quran & Sunnah about `aqiqah? Please explain.

If you are financially able enough to do both by holding one `aqiqah here and sending another one for the needy overseas, that would be great and more rewardable, insha’Allah.
