Can I go to a church knowing that some churches have idols and paintings or photos of Jesus crucified? Would it be okay, like to attend a Christian friend’s wedding or merely to visit?
All churches have these same things, and going there for any legitimate reason is allowed, including visiting, but it would be better if your visit were for the purpose of da`wah.
At the same time, however, attending a wedding at a church is not allowed for many reasons: because of the gender intermingling at such events, the immodest dressing, the music, the alcoholic beverages, and sometimes they even expect their guests to join in the prayers and rituals they perform to bless the wedding ceremony and the couple. Obviously, the participation of a Muslim in such rituals is not allowed.
