Question
Peace and Mercy of Allah be upon you.
I am not sure of the meaning of these terms: istinja', istijmaar and istibra'. What do they mean, and the detailed requirements for each of them?
May Allah reward you amply.
Answer
In the Name of Allah The All-Merciful, The Ever-Merciful.
Praise be to Allah; Prayers and Peace of Allah be upon the Messenger, his household and his companions.
The term istinja' refers to purification with water after urination or defecation. Istijmar is the purification with stones. Istibra' is to make sure that no more urine comes out after urinating and that it does not soil the clothes or the body.
May Allah grant you more observance and guidance. And Allah knows best.
