Question
I have purchased a two lands for resale,I have taken zakath on both land value every year. now, due to recession the land value has been reduces , iam not able to fix the land value. should i take zakath on the real value or not. secondly every year iam investing on that land for development. should i take zakath on the purchased value or the total of expenses included? i have purchased a flat for re sale, but i gave that flat for rental. shouls i give zakath on the flat value or the rent ? i have purchased a land for resale, now the land is court case. i cant sell the land till the court hearing. should i give zakath on that land?

1-      Zakah is due only on the market value of the land on an annual basis. So, you need to do an appraisal through any of the real estate agencies to determine the approximate value of your properties and pay their Zakah accordingly.

Once you do so, you need to deduct from the market value any expenses you incurred, such as labor, maintenance,…etc

 

2-      Zakah is due only on the revenue of the rental flat/property you have starting the day it was leased. Meanwhile, Zakah is due on the market value of this flat when it was for sale and before leasing it if one lunar year has passed already.

3-      No Zakah is due on the land in court case. Wait until the case is clear, and after one lunar year of its clearance, Zakah is due as usual.
