Assalamu Alaykum. My husband works the nightshift in a company, (a job) that was rather difficult to attain because employment opportunities are limited. His work schedule is from 4 pm Asr time until 3 am in the morning; so, for Asr, Maghrib and Isha prayer, he is working. So can he pray Asr in advance, before its time, then go to work and after he finishes work, he prays Maghrib and Isha, or not? How would you advise him in this situation? Thank you very much.
In the name of Allaah, the Benevolent, the Merciful. All praise is due to Allaah, and peace and blessings be upon the messenger of Allaah, upon his family, companions, and those loyal to him. To proceed:
The rule is to perform prayer at its due time, “Verily, the prayer is enjoined on the believers at fixed hours”. He was asked, peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him, which of the deeds are best? So he said, “Performing the prayer at its due time”. Therefore, it is incumbent upon your husband to manage his affairs so that he performs his prayers at their due time at his workplace, and there is no harm on him in that. No one can oppose him in this regard because it is a right that is due to him warranted by all the laws and regulations in this country. Perhaps, though, what you have mentioned can suit him as something temporary in this transitional stage until he arranges his affairs at his workplace to be able to perform the prayer at its due time, by the permission of Allaah. I hope that this would happen very soon inshaAllaah. May Allaah guide you both and increase you in cautiousness and success. And Allaah, the Most High, knows best.
