1. Can I give zakat to the local Islamic school and have them responsibly spend it as they want? 2. Can I give zakat to Islamic school when they say they will use to sponsor tuition of a poor child? Am I then free of responsibility for how my zakat is spent i.e. whether that family deserves zakat etc.? I need to decide about my zakat money this Ramadan? 3. Does AMJA accept zakat donations?

Islamic schools in the US are legitimate recipients of your Zakah. If you trust those in charge in the local Islamic school in your area, you can give them your Zakah.

AMJA is another legitimate Zakah recipient, it does accept Zakah.
