Question
Assalaamu Alaykum I do have gold that reached the nisab and I do pay zakah on it every year. I also have silver jewelery that doesn't even weigh 100g which I never paid zakah on it. Some people said that I should add the weight of the gold and silver jewelery together and pay the zakah for both as if all the jewelery were gold. Please let me know. Jazaakum Allahu Khairan.

Answer

No obligated Zakah on the jewelry you have! And whether it is gold or silver according to the most correct opinion of the different juristic schools, as long as the jewelry is for your personal use and was not bought to store the value of money and avoid its inflation.

However, if you chose to pay Zakah on jewelry, the threshold/Nisab of silver is 595 gram. So, in your case, no Zakah on the silver you have even if you believe it is mandatory to pay it because the amount you have did not reach the Nisab.

May Allah swt reward you the best for your sacrifice.
