Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu, I am just wondering if it is haram if my husband and I choose not to have children. We know that this is all up to Allah s.w.t. and he provides sustenance and everything of the like, but we have this issue where we worry a lot about things and we fear that we might not be able to raise the child the way it should be raised Islamically. Yes, we know that we should place Tawakal in Allah s.w.t. but as bad as it sounds, we just don't want to have to deal with children and do not have the patience to go through everything with them. For all we know, Allah might not even bless us with a child even if we wanted, but so far we have used preventative measures (condoms). Please clarify, Jazak Allah.
AAWW
The reason you provided for not having kids is not reasonable at all and it is against the Sunnah of the Prophet saaw in which He said (Get married and have offspring as I will be proud of you in the Hereafter). It clearly contradicts the human desire of having children. But if you insist on not having children by using the regular birth control (condoms, coitus interruptus…etc ) without any surgical or clinical measures to permanently eliminate fertility, it is up to you and there is no sin or harm on you.
