Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatallahi wa Barakathu, I was just wondering if giving candy during Halloween to trick or treaters was haraam? Jazak Allah Khair for all your time and patience.

Historically speaking; Halloween is a feast that has some religious roots, as you know. So, Muslims are not supposed to celebrate such a day because of that.  However, people who celebrate it nowadays – especially kids - do not consider the religious nature of this day at all.  It became a day of fun, collecting and eating candy, knocking on doors, and showing off scary costumes.

With this in mind; giving candy to innocent kids who knock your door is not prohibited; yet, it is better not to open your door!

 As you see above, this issue is amongst the doubtful matters that the Prophet SAAW instructed us to stay away from.
