Answer

Alhamdu Lillah

What is expected from practicing parents like you is to train their daughters wearing Hijab from the age of seven, which is the same age Muslim parents start training and teaching their kids on how to perform Salah accordingly.

Adhering to the full Hijab is an obligation on Muslim women upon reaching the age of puberty. Parents will be held responsible in front of Allah SWT for any shortcoming or violation to this rule and any other Islamic obligations might be violated.

However, wisdom and practicality are always required when dealing with our kids. So, if your daughter is not used to Hijab at all for a reason or another, then you can talk to her kindly and gradually to convince her wearing Hijab. Our kids in the American society are facing many challenges; the peer pressure, easy access to obscene media, societal temptation,..etc and it is our job parents to keep them away from all these temptations and wickedness.

May Allah SWT protect our kids and guide us all to the right path.
