Assalam o Alaikum my name is mohammad and i have been having the desire to box for a long time, so my question is the sport boxing forbidden in Islam or its okay
Alhamdu Lillah
The Fiqh Council of the Muslim World League in its annual meeting in 1987 decided unanimously that boxing is prohibited. This is due to the significant harm it causes, where the two competitors focus in hitting the face. Hitting the face is prohibited in Islam and the practice of so called”sport” shows the fatal harm and the very serious damage players sometimes experience. Concussion, brain damage, severe facial bleeding, and hearing and sight loss are just examples of that damage. It is a well established principle in Islam that causing harm to one’s self and to others is prohibited.
