Question

As-Salamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahma Allah Wa Barakatuh My father passed away some time ago, he was a non-Muslim like the rest of my family. He owned several properties, full paid-no debts. He never wrote a will yet he always told us (my mother, my 3 brothers, my sister and myself)that when he died 50% of everything will be my mother's and the other 50% have to be distributed equally between 5 of us. It is permissible for me to take my part? If yes, all of it or there is a percentage. Please let me know what have to be done based on the Sharia'h. Jazaka Allah Khairn Wassalamu 'Alaikum Wa Rahma Allah Wa Barakatuh

Answer

It is permissible for you to receive what ever money you will get from your father’s money, and this not an inheritance but it is like a will of your father, the muslim can give a non muslim from his inheritance if it is part of his will and receive as well from the will of non muslim.
