Question

Assalam o alaikum Warehmatullah, Somebody told me that if I perform Hajj or Umrah with my children (currently 2 1/2 and a newborn), their Hajj or Umrah will not count and they will have to do it again at an age of or after 18. I do not want to leave them with anyone since they are very little and need their parents esp. mother at this age.

What is the right thing to do over here? When can I perform Hajj?

Also, someone I know (muslim girl) is marrying a non-muslim person. I will not attend the ceremony although she is only doing nikah not the christian way. I just wanted to know if I can at least send her a gift? JazakAllah kher for your reply.

Answer

I'll not recommend you to take  infants and children to Hajj because it is so crowded and so many people get sick after words so it will be better to keep them with your family until you finish the Hajj. The Hajj of infants and children is permissible, but will not be sufficient for them when they reach the age of pubetry because being an adult is one of the conditions for any act of worship, but the parents will take the reward of the Hajj of the child. Imaam Muslim reported by Ibn Abbaas and in it: That a women raised a child up to the prophet (Allaah's blessings and peace be upon him) and said: Can he (or she) make hajj? So he said: Yes, and you will be have a reward.
