Salaam u alikom, Is it permissible to purchase gifts for family and freinds abroad in the US while in ihram durring hajj?

All praise be to Allah, and may His blessings and peace be on His last prophet and messenger, Muhammad.

Most certainly, you could buy gifts for family during hajj. Allah said regarding hajj,

"لِّيَشْهَدُوا مَنَافِعَ لَهُمْ وَيَذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَّعْلُومَاتٍ..."

“That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days...” [Sahih International, 22:2]
