Assalam a'alaikum w rahmato allah w barakatoh Dear brothers, may god shower you with his blessings in the shahr of Ramadan. I have problem with smoking, and i have tried to quit but its difficult and not an easy task, and as you know we are just starting the holy month of Ramadan, and with years of smoking and becoming a heavy smoker, I'm facing a really hard time to fast, as stopping smoking during the day makes me extremely sleepy and not able to focus on anything which effects my work too and not being productive at all. I know it's haram to break my fast intentionally &I know smoking is haram too. But what can i do now? and how can i make up for the days i break my fast because of this bad habit. please i need your help

Answer

All praise be to Allah, and may His blessings and peace be on His last messenger, Muhammad,

As a Muslim who is mindful of God, you should not allow this forbidden habit to make you abandon a pillar of Islam. Seek medical help to quit smoking. This is the right time since you have the motivation to do it. While fasting, the doctors will be able to prescribe something for you to be administered via a patch or some other way that won’t break your fasting.

Allah knows best.
