As-salamu alaikum, 

I married my husband 5 months ago and at the time he told me that he would give me my dowry in 6 months. He also lives in a separate state and we only have seen each other once in these past months since we got married. He lives there as he has a new job which he must fulfill. He promised that the way he would manage the distance is that he would travel to meet me where I live. This has not been happening, and now he has accepted a job overseas in UK without letting me know ahead of time of this change. He wants to be closer to his children by living overseas. 

He has not divorced me but his only email which I received this week said that it would be best we went our separate ways. Is my marriage valid at this point?

Yes, your marriage is still valid. What he said doesn’t amount to divorce.
